We are reading together

Pace is going to be 10 months in a couple days and from the video Andy posted, you'll see how much he has grown and changed.

Some new things Pace has started to enjoy:
-Reading with us. His favorite book is "The Wide-Mouthed Frog" (thanks Phil and Virginia!). He loves pop-up books and animal board books.
-"No Hands!" He'll pull himself up on our legs, on chairs, tables, couches, walls, anything that's solid. And then carefully puts his hands up and let's go and looks at us as if to say, "look at me! No hands!" It's hilarious when he is sitting down or leaning against something and then lifts his hands up and looks at us - does he really think he is standing up or balancing? Silly boy.
-Making us laugh. He'll give lots of kisses and then if we start laughing, he'll start laughing too.
-Playing chase/hide and seek. He'll chase his buelo (grandpa) all over the house as his buelo ducks behind walls, counters, tables, etc. He squeals if you get down on the floor and chase him after he has found you.
-Going on the baby swing at the park. Today was his first day on the baby swing and he loved it. He also liked going down the baby slide, although that might have been a little much for him.

Some old things Pace still enjoys:
-Singing - his range gets better everyday
-Going for walks
-Crawling
-Taking baths

Some things Pace enjoys less than when he was younger:
-Nursing. I'm still breastfeeding but am nervous about being able to go much longer because he is SO busy that it's hard for him to settle down to nurse for any length of time. Thankfully he still seems happy with what he's getting and I'm still producing milk but I'm pumping every night just to make sure I don't dry up before a year.

Some Pace FAQs:
-Sleeps about 12 hours a night from 6:30pm to 6:30am (Kira and Andy miss sleeping in!).
-Nurses about 4 times a day
-Eats solids 3 times a day. A typical breakfast or dinner is spelt and oatmeal or multi-grain mixed with bananas and a typical lunch is asparagus or peas and sweet potatoes.
-Still at the 25th percentile for weight (19 1/2 lbs) and 50th percentile for height (28 1/2 in).
-Has 8 teeth (4 on top and 4 on bottom)
-Increasingly more separation anxiety and is very clingy with mom!
-Still cloth diapered but is more wiggly and has ever-so-much more poop.
-Not interested in walking yet

Wow! I loved the video with the soccer ball...what a cute little boy. It's amazing to watch him grow. It makes me wonder what Alex will be doing in eight or nine months.

Alex was 13 pounds 9 ounces when she went to the doctor last week (she eats all the time; I feel like I can hardly keep up. She's 24 inches long now. I pump two or three times a day at work and she still runs out of bottle at her sitter! She also got four vaccines, which really made mommy sad!

I was happy to see lots of updates here when I peeked in -- hope to keep seeing more!

Love you!

Yeah, vaccine and other tests --> SAD PARENTS :( Pace at first didn't seem to mind them nearly as much as we did. Of course, he minds them more now!!

Very glad to hear that you have a healthily eating baby. Pace was not at first and it's a good stress not to have to deal with!

Gross. No more talking about pumping- either in the blog or in the comments. This is for your own good.

Also, what's the deal with vaccines? I don't get it. Do kids react poorly to them or what? Rob --> Confused.

Vaccines = shots. So yup, the reaction is generally one of sadness and confusion (aka "Loud, why-is-this-happening-to-me crying").

Hey Kira and Andy!! What great photos! Pace is all smiles, huh? You've taught him well. Looks as delightful as both of you. Hope to come out and visit sometime before I start residency. God bless! Your sis,
Melissa
